Day Six

So remember when I said that baking was my "other" talent? Well this is my first one. Apparently I can draw pretty well.

I used to draw all the time. You would never see me without a pencil in hand and a doodle on some poor piece of paper. I even slept with a pencil once and stabbed myself in the eye. Sadly though, over the years (that should be read as "got married") I slowed to a crawl and then pretty much stopped all together. It's actually a shame that I don't draw as much as I used to. I always wanted to to do a web comic, based around the characters and places that some friends and I have.

I usually only come up with one really good reason why I stopped drawing; I'm pretty sure I lost my muse, or drive. I can't get myself to draw even when I want to. I've never been very good at coming up with ideas to draw, which probably doesn't help either. And the fact that my wacom tablet doesn't like windows 7 very much, which makes for very long and difficult attempts at coloring in photoshop. I also like to work with people on things. The fact that I have no one who can draw as well as I can (with the exception of one person I know, but he's got about as much drive as I do) and I have no one to draw with makes me sad.

The drawing up in the picture is actually something I doodled up the other day for Nate's bday. The two characters in it are Rini and Nate. Two of my oldest characters, one of which is my persona and the other is, well, Nate's. Inventive, I know.

Looks like the Demon Queen and her best bud had a little too much mead and cake for his birthday.

Day Five

Day five, even though its a bit late now (thank you card reader and tower for being useless) is for Nate. Happy Bday!

The charm in the picture was a gift from him about 10yrs ago give or take a few years. And I still have it. Usually it's kept in a jewelery box where it wont get lost, but during the summer it gets taken out, cleaned and worn to the yearly Ren fair in Sterling NY. This year I even have a costume that will match the red stone in it. I'll hopefully get pictures of it when I wear it all to the fair. I think it'll look amazing with it.

Anyways, hope your bday is good. Again, I would of sent you sweets if I'd of thought about it, but I'm terrible with birthdays. Try to go out and have some fun.

Day Three/Four

I love the Batman world. I remember being about 6yrs old and dressing up as him for Halloween while all the other girls were princesses and fairies. I remember when mom and dad got me a VHS of the Batman movie from 1989 rather than a Barbie Doll. I remember watching Adam West religiously. 10yrs later, I'm still watching the movies and the cartoons. Sometimes I wish I would of gotten into the DC comics, but those things take up so much space.

Luckily, we got Fios the other day. So what did I do? I downloaded the entire animated series and all the movies. I'm only on episode 3 of season 1, but I've already fallen in love with the Joker all over again. I think if it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't of gotten into Batman as much as I have.

As some of my friends know, I'm scared to hell of clowns, mascots, and the like. I always get asked why then, if I'm so scared of clowns and such, is Joker and Harley my favorite characters? I really can't answer that. I've thought about it a few times. You'd think being scared of people painted up would be call for being scared shitless of some crazy insane person dressed up as a clown wreaking havoc across a city. Or at least some kind of dislike of the character. But no. I look forward to every episode with that batshit crazy clown man. I loved Jack Nicholson, and loved Heath even more for their jobs as Joker. And I don't think anyone on Earth could voice him better than Mark Hamill.

And, on the topic of cartoons, I miss cartoons like this. When they were actually animated and not computer generated. When the people who created them had an actual talent. It was cartoons like these that originally made me want to go into traditional animation. It's too bad that its a dying art..

Day Two

I am probably one of the least girly girls I know. I dislike the color pink about 99.9% of the time. I don't wear makeup unless its a massively special occasion. Skirts make me insane. I'm happiest with my hair cut off, a pair of jean, and a t-shirt. But one of my biggest guilty pleasures is probably the Semi-Annual Sale at Victoria's. Luckily, this year Mike had some money when it came around. Not that I needed anymore bras or underwear, but it's always nice to get new things. It makes it even more interesting when I do take Mike because he will paw through the stuff right along side the ladies. Usually this gets some pretty odd looks, especially when he picks stuff up and holds it high in the air and yells "What about these?!". I used to either shy away from him when he did this, or acted like he didn't belong to me. But now, seeing the looks on the women's faces as he waves around a neon pink and cheetah thong is priceless.

I would also like to point out that I didn't do too badly this year. I got a new bra and some underwear for less than the original price of the bra. And it was even under $50.

Day One

Day One: I thought it fitting to make one of my first pictures about my so called "2nd talent". Besides being able to draw, I apparently make some pretty bad ass sweets in the kitchen. I've even been called Betty Crocker a few times by people who have stumbled into my kitchen while I'm working. I do have another website, "It Looked Better In The Book". But it's been a while since I've been able to experiment and make something worth posting up to the site. Hopefully with my sister's baby shower coming up, I'll be able to make a long over due update. The cake is partially top secret. Only I know the way it'll look, or HOPEFULLY look. My sister only knows that it will include strawberries and have some baby colors added to it to make it look pretty for the occasion at hand.

I can say that one thing I can't make, to this day, is chocolate chip cookies. I've tried so many different recipes and tactics, and still I get paper thin, melted, pancakes for cookies. I can bake complex, multi-layer cakes. I can cook things like Guinness Beef Stew which is a pain in the ass. But to make something as simple and staple as a chocolate chip cookie still fails me. Someday I will get it right.

Just a little side note. Since this was supposed to be posted yesterday, but I had no time, There will probably be a 2nd post later today with Day Two.

Project 365

So I thought I would try something out to keep me busy. Its called Project365, and its been around for a while now. I've been toying with the idea of doing it for a few years, but owning a huge DSLR makes it kind of hard to get quick photos for this kind of thing. Now we own a small Canon Powershot Elph300 and this makes it much easier.

For those who don't know the project, all you do is take a photo at random o
f something throughout your day and post it in a blog with a little about the photo. The idea is that through 365 photos, people can learn more about you and the things you do and where you go or spend your time.

I figured I would start this off with a few photos. Just some "get to know me" photos and some stuff about each one. Then starting tomorrow, I'll actually start the 365 photos.

Me of course. Not the best picture, but hey.
You'll have to excuse the wall color. The camera
makes it much more insanely green than it
actually is.

This is Rufus. She's a Neon Tree Dragon.
Rufus used to have a tank mate by the
name of Tripod, but unfortunately Tripod
passed away recently.

Athena, my doxie. Don't let the pattern of
her coat fool you, she's pure bred. Her pastimes
include sleeping, eating, and going for long
hikes in the woods.

This is Ditah. She's one of 6 ferrets I own.
I couldn't really get very good photos of
them all as they were either sleeping on top
of each other, or moving around too much.
Luckily, Ditah loves to have her picture
taken at all times.

Not pictured are my numerous fish, the other 5 ferrets by the names of Titus, Oden, Valder, Aphrodite, and Loki, and my hubby Mike. Mike's off to work, so maybe I'll get a picture of him on another day for the project. The fish haven't been moved in yet, so that's their excuse. I'm sure they'll all pop up somewhere in the next year or so.

If anyone has any requests for pictures, let me know in the comments. It'll give me something to aim for rather than just taking pictures of the grass in my yard or the crazy people who wander down my street.
